Reimagining player experiences

Step into the world of Ember Sword, where the community of players reign supreme. At Ember Sword, our primary mission is to create a captivating MMORPG that places the gameplay experience above everything else. Ember Sword has the fast-paced combat of aRPGs, combined with the isometric view and skill-based abilities of MOBAs, set in a persistent MMORPG sci-fi fantasy universe.

Whether you are a free2play warrior, or a driving force in the bustling economy, we have built a world which ensures a vibrant and thriving ecosystem for all to benefit from. From rare and in-demand cosmetic items and dynamic land ownership, to social emotes and Collectables, players will have the chance to acquire, trade, and build a landscape like no other. These player controlled items on the blockchain not only add a sense of ownership and rarity, but also bring a new level of excitement and thrills to the game. This immersive MMORPG puts the power of the game in the hands of its players, creating an exciting and dynamic experience unlike any other.

The game's rich landscape is filled with opportunities for players to grow and succeed. Acquiring collectibles, which can be earned through various gameplay challenges such as boss battles, controlling outlaw territory, PvP seasons, competitive PvE battles etc. By trading these collectible cards for $EMBER or by flaunting their in-game cosmetic items, players have a unique chance to demonstrate their skills and increase their standing in the community.

Landowners play a crucial role in shaping the world of Ember Sword. Through managing resources, quest giving and offering services, they bring diversity and life to the game, while also having the opportunity to acquire real value from the time they put into the game.

On top of Ember Sword’s truly remarkable and engaging gameplay experiences, is the technology which fuels the wider vision - to revolutionize the way great games are accessed and played. We believe anyone should be able to play high quality games regardless of where they are, or what their bandwidth is. The persistence and consistency of its server structure, ensuring a seamless experience for all players across all server instances. With just one game world that evolves dynamically and one set of rules that apply to all, players are free to join friends on any server at any time, with no loss of progress or play experience. Ember Sword is more than just a game, it's a world waiting for you to explore and conquer.

Ember Sword empowers gamers to be active participants in the worlds they help create. It's an exciting time to be a part of the games community, and we're proud to be at the forefront of this gaming revolution. That's the vision behind Ember Sword, where players can control their own destiny and be the heroes of their own stories.

MMORPGs have captivated millions of players around the world, enabling them to forge long-lasting relationships with other gamers as they explore, interact, and battle in vast online worlds. However, these digital universes are controlled by centralized developers who hold ownership over every aspect of the game, from the world itself to every digital item within it. Meanwhile, the gamers themselves are left without ownership of the valuable items they've acquired, and are relegated to passive consumer status rather than active participants in the worlds they help create.

Ember Sword aims to change all that by placing players in control of the game world through true decentralized land ownership and digital collectables. Players are free to trade and sell both land and in-game cosmetic items they've acquired as they wish, enabling them to shape their own experiences in the world they inhabit.

  • The LAND is a non-fungible and highly scarce ERC721 asset that resides on ImmutableX (L2) on Ethereum, and can be sold or traded to anyone. It can be acquired at any point during official Ember Sword land sales or on whitelisted secondary marketplaces such as Token Trove, Immutable X.
  • LAND owners have complete control over what they build on their land, effectively changing the gameplay experience for all players in their areas. As an owner, you can choose to create a hub for players to farm special materials and resources or build an auction house or NPC for trading goods and items.
  • The Ember Sword on-chain ERC20 utility token is called EMBER, which is also used to trade the ERC721 collectibles, and can also be used to make in-game purchases.
  • ERC721 Digital Collectibles, which are not related in any way to player progression, are represented as cosmetic items, emotes and similar in-game.

It's no secret that the video game industry has experienced phenomenal growth in recent decades. From pixelated graphics to immersive virtual worlds, the evolution of video games has been nothing short of incredible.

Let's put it in perspective. In the year 2000, the global video game market was worth $8 billion, fast forward to 2022 and the industry raked in a whopping $267 Billion. And the numbers keep climbing, with experts estimating the market value to reach $404 billion in 2027.

It's clear that the video game industry is not and has never been just a passing fad, but a thriving and lucrative market that's here to stay. And with the advancements in technology and the rise of esports.

PHDs Needed To Learn And Shoehorned Playstyles

The learning curve is all over the place today, either everything is too easy, with arrows and helpers showing you where to go at all time, what to do at every second, or there’s no indicators, no learning, no nothing, where even the highest and most long term players, do not understand their own capabilities in-game. This, together with how most MMOs work today, where you will be shoehorned into one specific class, one specific talent build, because it is what the monthly metagame dictates, or what the current expansion pack is focused on. The lack of freedom to play how you want, be what you want, and be applicable in a way you want, is sorely lacking from today's landscape.

Modern Game Design: A Story Of Predatory Monetisation And Greed

Lately, the realm of gaming has been overshadowed by exploitative monetization schemes, as free-to-play, mobile, and even blockchain titles are frequently developed with the intent to extract players' hard-earned money rather than to improve their gaming journey. These games often employ cunning techniques that urge players to overspend on virtual items, diminishing the overall enjoyment in the process.

What Happened To Being Social In “Massively Multiplayer”

We have all encountered this problem in most MMOs we have tried, they simply aren’t going for the ‘Massively Multiplayer’ in MMO. Either servers are by the hundreds with everyone spread out on different “realms' you have to pay for to escape, or create new characters to play with your friends – or it is a game full of instancing where most of them cannot hold more than 20 players in the social hubs or various areas. Modern MMOs often feel like you are playing a small multiplayer game, or even a single player game. Not to mention how various “Looking For Raid” features eliminates the need for social contact and interaction, allowing malicious and rude players to quickly exclude others from the fun because they can just get another random player within seconds, effectively limiting everyones worth as a player.

Endgame Content That Is Stale And Unchanging

MMOs today often design endgame encounters in one way, meaning that the puzzles and encounters are forever the same, without any dynamic changes or uniqueness happening, ever. It gets stale really quickly. Furthermore, these game worlds often lose their magic of discovery due to detailed player guides and describing every detail of an encounter down to a T. Instead of taking a few cues from real life, where things change over time, developers instead laser focus on creating and selling new expansion packs, further splitting up you and your friends between pay gates.

In Ember Sword, the development team acknowledges the significance of providing a dynamic and enthralling gaming experience. The vision is to establish a game that adapts and evolves, ensuring that players remain engaged and challenged throughout their journey. By drawing inspiration from the best elements of numerous MMOs that have captivated gamers for decades, Ember Sword aims to strike the perfect balance between the familiar and the innovative.

The game's design philosophy seeks to eliminate the limitations often found in traditional MMOs by granting players the freedom to customize their characters with a vast array of abilities and equipment. This approach, combined with a commitment to maintaining balance and fairness, allows for a unique gaming experience that caters to various playstyles and preferences. Ember Sword invites players to explore an ever-changing world, where new challenges and opportunities for growth arise with each update, ensuring the game remains fresh and engaging for its dedicated community.

Ember Sword invites players to an enchanting world where they can truly leave their mark. By owning and cultivating land, each player can bring their unique vision to life. Whether it's a bustling marketplace, a secret guild hideaway, or a lively social gathering spot, the possibilities are as diverse as the players themselves, fostering a sense of belonging and adventure.

In summary, Ember Sword represents the culmination of years of experience and passion, as the development team brings together the best elements of the MMO genre to create a game that fosters deep connections, emphasizes player choice, and maintains a balanced and evolving world for its players to enjoy. The game's ability to offer both approachability for newcomers and high finesse for experienced players ensures its position as a must-play title in the world of online gaming.

Our viewpoint on revenue generation is unambiguous - each monetization strategy we implement must enhance the gaming experience, otherwise, it's off the table. By taking a firm stance against these manipulative practices, we aspire to refocus game design on crafting genuinely engaging and memorable experiences for players, as opposed to emptying their pockets. We are confident that by putting player contentment and significant engagement first, we can effectively challenge the prevailing norms and encourage a new era of considerate, player-focused game creation.

With Ember Sword, our primary mission is to create a captivating MMORPG that places the gameplay experience above everything else. This game design freedom, fueled by our deep passion for delivering exceptional player experiences, encourages our team to explore new ideas, push boundaries, and maintain the highest levels of quality in our work. By placing the sheer joy and excitement of gaming at the forefront of our design philosophy, we not only build a world that is truly enjoyable to explore but also foster a strong, connected, and vibrant community within Ember Sword.

Rashi - Gameplay comes first

Our innovative approach to monetization, which includes charging a small fee on digital collectible transfers, enables our talented developers to concentrate on designing fun, immersive, and engaging game experiences, without being constrained by sales targets or revenue generation.

We believe that by liberating our developers from traditional monetization pressures, we can unlock their full creative potential and inspire them to develop innovative features, items, and experiences that players will love. This commitment to prioritizing gameplay and fun sets Ember Sword apart from other MMORPGs and ensures that our game remains a dynamic, evolving, and memorable adventure for all who embark on the journey with us.

Ember Sword is an MMORPG that emphasizes the importance of fostering and empowering social connections among its players. By providing an immersive and expansive virtual world, Ember Sword encourages collaboration, communication, and camaraderie between players from all walks of life. The game offers a multitude of opportunities for meaningful interactions through shared in-game experiences, such as completing quests, trading goods, and participating in community-driven events. With a strong emphasis on player-driven economies and content creation, Ember Sword enables players to form lasting friendships and forge strong alliances, all while working together towards common goals. The game's innovative features and community-focused approach have laid the foundation for an environment in which players can flourish socially, paving the way for a rich and rewarding gaming experience.

Through land ownership, and player control of social hubs, we help players and communities to flourish and benefit from participating in the game world, they in turn create experiences for their fellow players, and influencing the every-day game world, it allows for a much more vibrant and social experience, where every settlement, every town, every city you run into, could have just one owner who runs it, either alone or with friends, or even cities run by multiple players, guilds and communities, all with a single purpose in mind, making an awesome gaming experience.

Leveraging blockchain technology, we grant control and real utility for in-game items like land, collectibles, and the EMBER token. Players can trade these items in-game or through secondary marketplaces, opening doors to a thriving and dynamic economy.

This is done completely without the need for additional learning, tools, or skills in technology or otherwise, instead we employ a no-nonsense approach, where players do not need to address the usage of various technology in the game and instead can opt-in for a more advanced approach if they so wish. Everything is built to be accessible to all gamers, with the most seamless approach possible.

In Ember Sword, our approach to endgame content is that it shouldn't get stale. We want the journey to be fun all the way, from start to finish, your continued growth will open up new refreshing experiences and possibilities. NPCs, mini-bosses, bosses and raid bosses will all employ a dynamic choice system, where based on various factors, your enemy will use different abilities, or behave differently. Furthermore, upon the world continuously expanding into fully fledged nations, the endgame will grow as new lands and opportunities arrive, which includes nation politics, nations trading, new unique crafting combinations and much more.

As long-time veteran gamers of all types, casual, midcore and hardcore, to world champions and competitive esport gamers, our vision for Ember Sword encompasses all the iconic elements of the MMORPG genre we love and cherish. This includes immersive raids and exhilarating battlegrounds, all while incorporating roguelike elements and fostering deep social cooperation among players. We strive our utmost to create a vibrant, engaging world where camaraderie and teamwork truly make a difference.

At the heart of Ember Sword lies a fast-paced combat system designed for pure mechanical fun, reminiscent of the thrilling gameplay found in MOBAs and ARPGs. Through a unique, classless combat system players have the freedom to craft their perfect character by mixing and matching a vast array of abilities unlocked through the use of diverse weapons. With only six abilities assignable at any given time, strategic choices become a central aspect of your gaming experience.

We believe our combination of bold dynamic combat, strategic character development, and rich social interactions will create an unforgettable gaming experience for everyone.

In Ember Sword, we strive to create diverse and dynamic encounters that ensure a unique experience every time, even when facing the same boss. This approach keeps players on their toes, challenging them to adapt and overcome, rather than merely following predictable patterns.

To illustrate this concept, let's envision how three distinct encounters with the same boss might look for two separate groups of players. In each encounter, the boss would exhibit varied behaviors, abilities, and ultimate moves, providing a fresh challenge for the players to confront. These variations encourage strategic thinking, adaptability, and collaboration among players as they face ever-evolving obstacles, further enriching their gaming experience in the expansive world of Ember Sword.

By continually offering fresh and unpredictable encounters, we aim to maintain a sense of excitement and wonder throughout the game, fostering a deeply engaging and rewarding experience for our players as they progress on their adventures.

At Bright Star Studios, we've carefully designed a player progression system in Ember Sword to harmoniously balance early, mid, and endgame experiences. In the initial and intermediate stages (until max level and the attribute cap), players focus on developing their character attributes, mastering weapon and crafting skills, and enhancing their items.

Graph of experience needed
In development and subject to change

By implementing caps on character attributes and flat damage upgrades, we promote a fair and balanced journey for players of all levels. As they reach the endgame, progression centers around skill leveling and item upgrades, enabling players to fine-tune their characters without causing significant power imbalances.

Our primary goal is to cultivate a competitive atmosphere where players can experience friendly rivalry early on in their adventures. Concurrently, we provide abundant opportunities for character growth and personalization, ensuring that endgame characters are powerful yet balanced, preventing extreme power discrepancies. This thoughtful approach to progression fosters an engaging and equal experience for all players, irrespective of their in-game progress.

Ember Sword's combat experience draws inspiration from MOBA games like DotA 2 and League of Legends, as well as hack-and-slash games such as Hades. The game's pacing is more reminiscent of DotA 2, offering an exhilarating experience that includes both PvE and PvP combat.

During both PvE and PvP encounters, players will see ground indicators signaling impending damage, providing ample time to dodge and evade harm. This feature ensures players have a clear understanding of when and where damage will occur.

As players progress and level up their professions, they'll gradually unlock new combat abilities. This design choice avoids overwhelming newcomers with too many options and provides a clear goal for players to pursue.

In PvE combat, players can face challenges solo or in a party of up to four. Certain abilities can be chained together, increasing the chances of success. For example, one player might use a Chain Hook to pull in a creature, while another player follows up with a heavy strike to stun the target.

In non-PvP areas, death penalties are minimal; players don't lose items or XP and respawn in a safe zone. The game's focus isn't on punishing players but rather acknowledging that mistakes happen.

However, dying in a PvP area results in losing some loot, although this may be adjusted for balance. Upon death, players will respawn in a safe area, ready to continue their adventures in the expansive world of Ember Sword.

Weapon examples
In development and subject to change

Note: Work In Progress. Many more weapons will be added to the game. In Ember Sword, weapons are designed with unique abilities intrinsic to their specific type, rather than being tied to the player's character talents/skills. This system means that each weapon type has its own distinct set of capabilities: pistols offer specialized pistol abilities, swords enable hack-and-slash maneuvers, staves grant wizard-like powers, and censers provide a combination of melee and support (healing) abilities. As the game evolves, new weapon types such as bows, hammers, axes, and much more will be introduced, each bringing their own exclusive abilities and expanding the diverse array of combat options available to players.

In Ember Sword, Lords are players who have purchased a portion of the game's land. These players possess the unique ability to develop their domain by upgrading structures like taverns, which can bestow buffs upon all players in the area.

Ember Sword is a game that is not only captivating but also revolutionary in its use of both on-chain and off-chain items which shape our no pay-to-win gameplay design philosophy and solidify our player controlled economy.

We want Ember Sword to be a social place with a bustling and ever changing world. At its core, Ember Sword offers players a chance to own unique digital assets that are represented by non-fungible tokens (NFTs), also known as Collectibles. These Collectibles include digital cosmetics, emotes, and even land plots that can be owned, traded, and upgraded. Cosmetics and emotes are a crucial aspect of a player's visual identity within the game, while land ownership provides opportunities for players to shape the in-game world by unlocking new gameplay features and providing user services to other players.

Tokenomics infograph
In development and subject to change

Our unique digital in-game token is known as EMBER. EMBER is the primary on-chain token that drives the Ember Sword ecosystem, and it serves as a gateway to a world of exciting land ownership, cosmetic features, user services, and other unique digital collectibles. There are various ways to acquire EMBER, players can buy it on the market or trading collectibles. Landowners who provide access to marketplaces and trading for other players can also earn EMBER, making it a valuable resource that players must work to obtain.

When it comes to trading NFTs within the Ember Sword world, players can use an auction house structure, which functions similarly to any other MMORPG auction house. The auction house is an NPC placed by landowners on their plots of land, and users can search for Collectibles they desire or browse the offerings to purchase their favorite items. A minor fee is applied to each transaction, which is shared 50/50 between Bright Star Studios and the landowner(s) of that specific area.

Land in Ember Sword - Building a World for the Community

Thanabus is a place where the players come together to create a world that they can truly call their own. To make this vision a reality, we have allocated a total of around 150,000 plots of player-owned land to represent the non-PvP areas of the initial nations in the game. These plots of land provide more than just a piece of virtual real estate, they also hold the potential for greater community and collaboration among members of the same guild.

As a landowner in Ember Sword, you have the opportunity to not only build and shape your unique corner of the world but also to potentially earn rewards for your creativity and effort. One of the ways we aim to support this is by offering multiple monetization options for your land.

Landowners will also be able to place various buildings and NPCs and otherwise provide regular (not monetized) in-game services, which are not pay-to-win, but more meant as a way to help attract people to their unique land.

Ember Sword city
In development and subject to change
Example city in Solarwood

Land in Ember Sword is represented by unique, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) which players can choose to purchase, build upon, develop, and trade. The size of a plot of land is roughly equivalent to the size of a player's screen during gameplay.

With these 150,000 plots of player-owned land, we hope to foster a community-driven world in Ember Sword that is shaped and owned by its players. Join us in building a world that truly belongs to all of us.

A Land of Forests, Mountains and Magic

Solarwood, the first part of our game world realized, is a verdant and vibrant realm governed by the Academic Federation and led by Headmaster Dalcor Kritana from the epicenter of academic prowess at Burkhalter’s Academy. Balancing the demands of the academics with the needs of their general populace, as well as the requirements that come with loyalty to the Republic is no easy task and this fragile equilibrium stands on the brink of a stern test, as war drums echo with the impending campaign against Sevrend. Solarwood is a rich blend of diverse landscapes, each distinct in industry and inhabited by a colorful spectrum of residents, unraveling a world ripe for exploration and rich in unfolding narratives, compelling quests, enthralling dungeons and adrenaline filled PvP arenas.

Demand Far Beyond Expectations

Our previous Solarwood Land Sale sold out completely in a matter of hours, with the community pledging more than $200M for future sales — so we encourage those who are interested to be ready to act fast!

For our land sales, we introduced an industry-first community application process. We chose this approach to ensure that those players who would become landowners were committed to creating the best experience possible for themselves and those players who interact with their plots. Land ownership comes with many benefits, and our applicants were able to give us the feedback for how they would like to utilize the land and capitalize on their social features, making the landscape exciting for everyone who plays Ember Sword.

Understanding Ember Sword Land Ownership

Ember Sword Land is unique in that it is directly tied into the gameplay, with the distinct goal of making the game better for everyone . Settlement owners and above will be able to place various buildings and provide a range of services which will enhance the experience for other players and help you attract them to your plots. You have the opportunity to not only shape your unique corner of the world, but also be rewarded for your effort. Land in Ember Sword is represented by unique, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the size of a plot of land is roughly equivalent to the size of a player’s screen during gameplay.

How Player Interactions Get Distributed To Landowners

For example: A player walks into a nearby plot of land and sees there’s a building with a collectible for sale that they own. They sell it for roughly $100 worth of EMBER tokens.

Sale distribution
In development and subject to change

Fees are roughly broken down with 93% to the player, and the remaining 7% broken down as follows:

  • Landowners receive a distribution of 3.5%, 1% of which goes into a global reward (for all landowners) and 2.5% is given to landowners in the local area of the transaction pool
  • 3.5% Goes to Bright Star Studios to help fund the gameplay experience.

When it comes to distributing rewards, different plot types have different token reward multipliers as shown in the table below:

Land type multiplier
In development and subject to change

To keep our example simple, let’s say the 20x20 plot local area is split among 3 owners:

  • Owner A: 16 city plots, 3 settlement plots, 81 regular plots.
  • Owner B: 8 town plots, 2 settlement plots, 90 regular plots.
  • Owner C: 8 settlement plots, 192 regular plots.
Map land ownership
In development and subject to change

Their reward multipliers would be:

Diagram transactions distribution
In development and subject to change
  • Owner A: 16×125 + 3×10 + 81 = 2111 or 73%
  • Owner B: 8×50 + 2×10 + 90 = 510 or 18%
  • Owner C: 8×10 + 192 = 272 or 9%

Based on this distribution they would each receive the following dollar value in tokens from the local pool:

  • Owner A: 2111 / 2893 × $2.5 = $1.82
  • Owner B: 510 / 2893 × $2.5 = $0.44
  • Owner C: 272 / 2893 × $2.5

The same math applies for the global reward pool, distributing the remaining $1 worth of tokens across all the minted land.

A Monthly Release Schedule of Exclusive Digital Collectibles

Every month, a limited amount of collectible cosmetics, ranging from complete sets to unique single items, is minted and unleashed into the world of Ember Sword. These coveted items can be discovered during thrilling encounters, won in exciting events, and more. They span the full spectrum of cosmetic types available in the game, ensuring a constant stream of fresh and exciting finds.

But here's the catch - this isn't an endless supply. When the month draws to a close, we turn the page and introduce a whole new collection of cosmetics. This means that once their time in the spotlight is over, these items will vanish from the drop pool. The only way to acquire these elusive treasures then is through trading with other players.

Our cosmetic release schedule isn't arbitrary - it's a living, breathing entity that responds to the heartbeat of the game. We gauge the amount of activity in the game, from Daily Active Users (DAU) to Monthly Active Users (MAU), and even the overall completion of game content. This ensures that our cosmetic releases are always in tune with the rhythm of Ember Sword, providing a dynamic and engaging experience for all our players. So, are you ready to embark on a monthly quest for exclusive cosmetics? The clock is ticking, and the game is on!

In Ember Sword, we proudly refer to all in-game items such as skins, cosmetics, emotes, etc. collectively as "Collectibles". These collectible items bring out a player's creative flair, but they do not impact gameplay progression or give any competitive advantage to the owner.

Let's say a player obtains the ‘Sword of a Thousand Truths’ skin, while it will make you look stunningly remarkable, it won't give any skills, attributes or status that gives an edge in a battle.

We've designed the game with a player-first approach, and to make sure the players have control over their look, we've added various visible equipment slots, with more pieces to follow. This way, players can easily show off their personal style and rare finds.

Example of cosmetic history
In development and subject to change

Every collectible in Ember Sword is a limited edition item, with a set quantity that will never be restocked. From time to time, new collectibles will be introduced into the collectibles distribution cycle and then distributed through PvE and PvP objectives, tournaments, leagues, unique events and some through limited-time themed sales. When the supply runs out, it is completely out and these collectibles will only be achievable through trading with other players.

To achieve a collectible drop, all you need to do is play the game, have fun, vanquish mobs, defeat players, and through these events, you have a chance to gain drops, which will be digital collectibles, alongside the regular normal off-chain items in-game. As normal items, let's say weapons and armor, are not on-chain, we ensure that there is no pay-to-win in the game, and throughout intricate game design we on top will be monitoring for any automated activity and similar.

This rarity and finite quantity is what makes these game items collectible. Each item has a unique history, including its former owners, how it was first forged, events it might have “witnessed” and more. This means that every item is one-of-a-kind.

For players who want to own a particular collectible that's no longer in circulation, they'll have to buy it from other players using EMBER. Those who participate in the PvP and PvE player economy can earn Ember by acquiring collectibles through gameplay and selling them to others.

Additionally players can explore external marketplaces to see what other players have put up for sale or trade.

In Ember Sword, we've created an ecosystem where rarity, uniqueness, and creative expression are at the forefront, making it a truly revolutionary MMORPG. Get ready to forge your own destiny and create your legend in the world of Ember Sword.

Fusing Collectibles To Trade-Up

Players can fuse together a number of collectibles of the same rarity, where the collectibles submitted will be burnt, meaning they are gone forever, and instead an upgraded collectible with one tier higher rarity will be given to the player in exchange.

This feature is meant to help fight inflation and deflation of the collectibles economy.

It will require some amount of EMBER tokens to fuse together collectibles. The amount is to be determined, but we can promise it will not be something of serious magnitude.

Bots: The Cat and Mouse Game

We also considered harmful bots, and bot farming when we initially came up with the strategy and concept for the game. If you have easily achievable collectibles or items, like in most MMORPGs, you will attract a horde of botters, and player farms to exploit these methods to gain a profit. However, by making items less of a chore, focusing more on gameplay and personal gameplay style, we severely hinder the use and need for bots.

Firstly, with our model these items will no longer be forced into black markets. And collectibles? Well, bots will have a tough time farming them, as they will require you to actively participate in the economy and the security measures that come with it. In addition to all of that, we also partnered with a leading AI firm to monitor to make sure we keep botting to an absolute minimum.

Our tokenomics exist in a symbiotic ecosystem with the game economy. 50% of the tokens will only be released through actual game mechanics. The remaining 50% are allocated as follows: 8% for advisors, 19% for the team, 6% for early token sales, 7% for reserves, and 10% for public token sales. All these allocations, except for the public token sale and reserves, are subject to a TGE+1 month, 4-year vesting period. We maintain control over the team allocations and have strict policies in place to prevent independent token sales by our employees.

Distribution pie chart
Image subject to change

Early Token Sales

6% (150,000,000) of all EMBER Tokens will be reserved for pre-sale purchasers, and subject to lockup vesting periods of TGE+1 month, and 4 years linear vesting.

Public Token Sales / Liquidity Pools

10% of all EMBER Tokens (250,000,000) will be available during the token crowdsale and networks for facilitating decentralized trading. This is including but not limited to IEO and subsequently listing on multiple exchanges for enhancing liquidity (launchpools/liquidity pools)

Game Rewards / Emissions

50% of all EMBER Tokens (1,250,000,000) reserved for the player economy and strategic partners for Ember Sword, including but not limited to artists, influencers, partnerships and community members who will be rewarded Tokens to incentivise and support building community projects.

Our current release model connects the release of game rewards related tokens to the DAU/MAU activities, player progression within the game, and game-related initiatives. This ensures that tokens are released as the game grows, further stabilizing the overall economy based on actual demand. We also have a grant system initiative we will introduce which supports content creation, and a loyalty/retention program, where token holders and/or players can lock up their tokens to earn rewards tied to the success of the game.

In addition to regular NFTs (Cosmetics) drops, EMBER would be given as a reward for example to the first teams completing new dungeons, high ranking players in arenas and tournaments, and for completing achievements, events and other fun objectives in the game.

Reserves / Treasury

7% of all EMBER Tokens (175,000,000) will be retained and work as company reserves to support and stabilize the EMBER Token ecosystem.

Advisors / Early Supporters

8% of all EMBER Tokens (200,000,000) will be retained and reserved for the early supporters/partnership that help lift the potential of EMBER tokens as well as the Advisors.

19% of all EMBER Tokens (475,000,000) will be retained and reserved for Founders, Team Members, Contractors etc

Unsold Tokens & Vesting

  • Unsold EMBER Tokens from the pre-sales will be made available during the Public Token Sale.
  • Tokens distributed to founders, the team and advisors etc, are subject to a 4-year lockup period, with TGE + 1 month, with linear vesting following. Token Genesis Event is expected within 12 months.
  • Should we choose not to utilize/sell all the reserved tokens for private/community they would be distributed into the reserves.

Securing the Proceeds From The Public Token Sale (TGE)

Proceeds collected through the Public Sale (TGE) will initially be stored in a multi-sig secure wallet. This means that all outgoing transactions will have to be verified by multiple executives based in different locations within the organization.

Finally the proceeds will be spread out as highly stable and recognised currencies, but also within different institutional partners including SIFI approved banks and government secured institutions.

Dynamic Token Release Model

We have designed a dynamic token release model that is closely tied to the game's growth and player activities. This model ensures that tokens are released as the game grows, further stabilizing the overall economy based on actual demand.

Our release model is directly connected to Daily Active Users/Monthly Active Users (DAU/MAU) activities, player progression within the game, and game-related initiatives such as influencer partnerships. In simpler terms, if the DAU/MAU is lower on a given month, the circulation of the EMBER token is lower - and vise verse.

Programmatic Deflationary / Inflationary Policy

In our commitment to maintaining a balanced and dynamic economy, we have designed a programmatic Deflationary/Inflationary policy that works in tandem with a Burn and Mint Equilibrium mechanism. This dual approach allows us to manage the total supply of 2.5 billion tokens effectively.

A key component of this strategy is a programmatic burn mechanism. This mechanism is designed to induce scarcity by burning a percentage of the rewards/emission pool. The burn rate is carefully calculated to maintain balance in the economy and is adjusted based on the number of active players and the overall economic activity within the game.

Simultaneously, we have a minting process in place to support the game economy. New tokens are minted at a calculated rate, which is planned not to exceed 5% annually. This minting process is expected to come into full effect once all the tokens have been allocated.

It's important to note that the burn rate can vary between -5% and 5% annually. For instance, in 2025, we may set the burn rate at 1.2%, which would result in 1.2% of the token supply being burned.

In addition to the Game Rewards and Emission Allocation System, we have implemented control mechanisms to stabilize the token supply and demand. These mechanisms ensure that our token economy remains robust and resilient, providing a stable foundation for the growth and development of Ember Sword.

Cosmetic Merging: Enhancing Scarcity and Uniqueness

In our pursuit of creating a unique and engaging player experience, we have implemented a cosmetic merging system. This system allows players to combine multiple cosmetics of the same type into a higher-tier cosmetic within the same line. For instance, a player can merge six Tier 1 cosmetics into a single Tier 2 cosmetic. This process results in the original six Tier 1 cosmetics being burned, and a new Tier 2 cosmetic being minted.

This merging process serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it induces deflation in the cosmetic supply, thereby increasing the scarcity of higher-tier cosmetics. Secondly, it enhances the uniqueness of higher-tier cosmetics, providing players with the opportunity to differentiate themselves and express their individuality in the game world.

Each merging step requires a fixed amount of EMBER tokens. These tokens are then reintroduced into the game economy through in-game objectives or sold to players. Alternatively, they may be burned as part of our overall economic deflation strategy. This approach ensures that our token economy remains balanced and robust, while also providing players with a unique and engaging gameplay experience.

Tokenomics Conclusion

We intend on continuing to build out the economic system of the game, meaning that we will continue to reiterate and make sure all our tokenomics and economy designs are working as intended, as we similar are looking to expand onto it. There are many features we wish to add post the initial launch as the game grows together with its player base.

We welcome everyone to add their suggestions and feedback as well as to what they would most like to see in the game, as we are always listening and reviewing feedback, even if we do not reply or embed ourselves into the discussions. Discord feedback is especially welcomed here, as it is a great platform for our community team of professionals and volunteers to monitor feedback from all of you and deliver it directly to our leadership, engineers, game designers and artists.

Our Proprietary Engine Looking To Level The Playing Field For All Gamers

When we first set out to create Ember Sword, we envisioned a game where there were no borders to entry, no limits, no buy-in.

Our engine does not utilize any form of video streaming to deliver gameplay to your platform of choice, instead we stream game data directly to your machine. Using our unique data-delivery methods, plus utilizing compression algorithms, we can deliver a smooth game experience on any device, any service, across the globe, down to a 3G+ connection. This is a true game changer. It enables Ember Sword to reach markets across the world, which previously have been neglected due to a lack of technology and bandwidth, two areas which our engine aims to alleviate.

This means you can play Ember Sword no matter where you are, even in Antarctica, as long as you have a device that has at least 3G+ Internet access, and/or a browser, you can boot up Ember Sword and enjoy a zero-friction experience, effectively leveling the playing field for gamers across the globe.

Outperforming Legacy Technology By Design

In the early 2000s both CPUs and Memory were slow. Over the next 20 years, CPU got so much faster (100x+), however, Memory still remained slow (~3x of what it was in the early 2000s). Instead of optimizing software for memory, we optimize for the CPU. This requires a significantly different way of programming. All popular engines today are built in the ‘legacy way’ (Object-Oriented Programming which utilizes memory over CPU) which heavily limits performance gains. A data-driven design is better than object-oriented design for game development because it allows for efficient processing of large amounts of data, leading to better performance on CPUs and greater flexibility.

Ember Sword is more than just a game. It's a revolution in the MMORPG world, giving players true control over the digital landscape. With the introduction of EMBER Tokens and Collectibles on the blockchain since 2018, Ember Sword has been leading the way in the gaming industry.

At the heart of Ember Sword lies the concept of digital ownership, which is made possible through the unique 4x4 parcel of LAND. LAND is an ERC721 token, and each one is linked to an actual location in the Ember Sword game world. During the Ember Sword LAND sale, players can claim their plot of land on the blockchain-based ledger of parcels. From there, they obtain full control over their LAND, able to do as they wish with it, including trading or selling it to other players for EMBER Tokens. As LAND is truly owned by players, they become active participants in defining the game world. There are many options for customizing a plot of LAND, creating a unique and constantly evolving environment for others to engage with.

Ember Sword also introduces Collectibles, verifiably unique ERC721 tokens on the blockchain. These Collectibles can be earned through in-game activities and can unlock valuable cosmetic items when a complete set is collected. Collectibles provide a rare and scarce aspect to Ember Sword, adding to the uniqueness of the game. As players truly own these Collectibles, they can be traded and sold among players for EMBER Tokens.

By using blockchain technology, Ember Sword creates a fair and secure digital environment that is beneficial to all players. The separation of normal in-game items from scarce Collectibles on the blockchain ensures that valuable digital items can be freely traded without negatively affecting the gameplay experience of others. This contrasts with many modern MMORPGs, where valuable digital items intended to be sold for in-game gold are instead sold for fiat money on illegal black markets.

The Ember Sword Revolution: How Blockchain is Changing the MMORPG Landscape

As the world of gaming evolves, so do the expectations of players. With the increasing popularity of MMORPGs, developers are constantly exploring new ways to enhance the gaming experience.

One of the most significant benefits of blockchain technology is its ability to decentralize ownership and trading of game assets. With traditional MMORPGs, game items and currency are controlled by game developers, which often leads to limited options for players. Blockchain allows the players to have full control over their in-game items and even monetize them outside the game.

At the core of Ember Sword is a commitment to engaging gameplay. By integrating blockchain and web3 technologies, we can monetize trades and transactions within the game while keeping the focus on the fun aspects of the gaming experience. In turn, this incentivizes players to engage with the game, leading to a vibrant and dynamic gaming community.

Ember Sword prioritises transparency and open communication with our players. By leveraging the transparent nature of blockchain, we can build trust with our community and ensure they have access to all relevant information about in-game transactions, the development process, and updates.

By incorporating blockchain and digital collectibles, we can create a secure ecosystem for trading in-game assets. This system not only eliminates the need for middlemen, reducing the risk of fraud, but also allows for cross-game item trading and cashing out, providing players with a greater sense of ownership and control over their digital assets.

As developers, we understand the importance of cost-effective solutions. By using blockchain and cryptocurrency, we can create in-game premium currency with transparency, reducing costs and ensuring a fair economic environment for players.

Blockchain is a secure and transparent technology that ensures the integrity of in-game transactions. In traditional MMORPGs, there is a high risk of fraud and scams when players engage in transactions with each other. With blockchain, all transactions are recorded on an immutable ledger, making it impossible to manipulate or hack. This ensures that players can trust each other and participate in secure transactions

The use of blockchain technology in MMORPGs creates a player-driven economy, where players have control over the in-game market. With a player-driven economy, the supply and demand of game assets are determined by players, rather than game developers. This ensures that the game is more engaging and dynamic, with a constantly evolving economy.

The use of smart contracts in blockchain technology ensures that game rules are immutable and cannot be changed by game developers. This ensures that players can trust the game mechanics and that there is no room for manipulation. In addition, smart contracts enable developers to create new and innovative gameplay mechanics that are not possible with traditional MMORPGs.

With blockchain technology, MMORPGs can be designed to have a community-driven governance system. This means that players can participate in the decision-making process, ensuring that the game evolves in a way that aligns with the interests of the player community. This creates a sense of ownership and accountability, leading to a more engaged player base.
