Technology and Accessibility

Our technology fuels a seamless, accessible gaming experience for all. A persistent server structure allows one consistent world where players can join any server and retain their progress. Ember Sword is more than a game; it's a world ready to be explored and conquered.

THE POWER OF THE PLAYERS

CREATING BETTER EXPERIENCES

Ember Sword empowers gamers to be active participants in the worlds they help create. It's an exciting time to be a part of the games community, and we're proud to be at the forefront of this gaming revolution. That's the vision behind Ember Sword, where players can control their own destiny and be the heroes of their own stories.

MMORPGs have captivated millions of players around the world, enabling them to forge long-lasting relationships with other gamers as they explore, interact, and battle in vast online worlds. However, these digital universes are controlled by centralized developers who hold ownership over every aspect of the game, from the world itself to every digital item within it. Meanwhile, the gamers themselves are left without ownership of the valuable items they've acquired, and are relegated to passive consumer status rather than active participants in the worlds they help create.

Ember Sword aims to change all that by placing players in control of the game world through true decentralized land ownership and digital Collectables. Players are free to trade and sell both land and in-game cosmetic items they've acquired as they wish, enabling them to shape their own experiences in the world they inhabit.

Summary

  • The LAND is a non-fungible and highly scarce ERC721 asset that resides on ImmutableX (L2) on Ethereum, and can be sold or traded to anyone. It can be acquired at any point during official Ember Sword land sales or on whitelisted secondary marketplaces such as Token Trove, Immutable X.

  • At full launch LAND owners have complete control over what they build on their land, effectively changing the gameplay experience for all players in their areas. As an owner, you can choose to create a hub for players to farm special materials and resources or build an auction house or NPC for trading goods and items.

  • The Ember Sword on-chain ERC20 token is called $EMBER, which is also used to merge ERC721 collectibles, and can also be used to make in-game purchases.

  • ERC721 cosmetic COLLECTABLES, which are not related in any way to player progression, are represented as cosmetic items, emotes and similar in-game.

THE PROBLEMS FACING MMO PLAYERS

A RIDE FULL OF SPEED BUMPS

PHDs Needed To Learn And Shoehorned Playstyles

The learning curve is all over the place today, either everything is too easy, with arrows and helpers showing you where to go at all time, what to do at every second, or there’s no indicators, no learning, no nothing, where even the highest and most long term players, do not understand their own capabilities in-game. This, together with how most MMOs work today, where you will be shoehorned into one specific class, one specific talent build, because it is what the monthly metagame dictates, or what the current expansion pack is focused on. The lack of freedom to play how you want, be what you want, and be applicable in a way you want, is sorely lacking from today's landscape.

Modern Game Design: A Story Of Predatory Monetisation And Greed

Lately, the realm of gaming has been overshadowed by exploitative monetization schemes, as free-to-play, mobile, and even blockchain titles are frequently developed with the intent to extract players' hard-earned money rather than to improve their gaming journey. These games often employ cunning techniques that urge players to overspend on virtual items, diminishing the overall enjoyment in the process.

What Happened To Being Social In “Massively Multiplayer”

We have all encountered this problem in most MMOs we have tried, they simply aren’t going for the ‘Massively Multiplayer’ in MMO. Either servers are by the hundreds with everyone spread out on different “realms'' you have to pay for to escape, or create new characters to play with your friends – or it is a game full of instancing where most of them cannot hold more than 20 players in the social hubs or various areas. Modern MMOs often feel like you are playing a small multiplayer game, or even a single player game. Not to mention how various “Looking For Raid” features eliminates the need for social contact and interaction, allowing malicious and rude players to quickly exclude others from the fun because they can just get another random player within seconds, effectively limiting everyones worth as a player.

Endgame Content That Is Stale And Unchanging

MMOs today often design endgame encounters in one way, meaning that the puzzles and encounters are forever the same, without any dynamic changes or uniqueness happening, ever. It gets stale really quickly. Furthermore, these game worlds often lose their magic of discovery due to detailed player guides and describing every detail of an encounter down to a T. Instead of taking a few cues from real life, where things change over time, developers instead laser focus on creating and selling new expansion packs, further splitting up you and your friends between pay gates.

EASY TO PLAY, HARD TO MASTER

A Game that Embraces Unique Playstyles

Ember Sword is designed to provide a dynamic, evolving gaming experience that keeps players engaged. Drawing from the best elements of MMOs, it balances familiar features with innovative gameplay to create a world that adapts and evolves.

es-world-diarama.webp

Customization and Balance: Players have the freedom to personalize their characters with diverse abilities and equipment while maintaining balance and fairness. This approach caters to varied playstyles and preferences, and also makes it hard to master.

Engaging World: Ember Sword offers a dynamic world where new challenges and opportunities emerge with every update, ensuring an exciting and ever-fresh experience.

Land Ownership: Players can leave their mark by owning and cultivating land, bringing unique visions to life, whether it's a marketplace, guild hideout, or social hub.

In summary, Ember Sword combines years of MMO passion and expertise to create a game that emphasizes player choice, fosters deep connections, and maintains a balanced, evolving world that appeals to newcomers and experienced players alike.

GAMEPLAY ABOVE EVERYTHING

LIBERATING GAME DESIGN FROM SALES

We firmly believe that monetization should enhance the gaming experience, not detract from it. By rejecting exploitative practices and prioritizing player satisfaction, we aim to create genuinely engaging and memorable experiences. Our goal is to refocus game design on player engagement, ushering in a new era of considerate, player-centered development.

Player-Centered Design: We strive to make Ember Sword a captivating MMORPG that places gameplay above all else. This creative freedom allows us to explore new ideas, maintain high quality, and build a world that players enjoy exploring.

Fair Monetization: By charging a small fee on digital collectible transfers, we allow our developers to focus on crafting fun and immersive game experiences without the constraints of aggressive sales targets.

This approach sets Ember Sword apart from other MMORPGs, fostering a strong, connected community and an exciting world that continues to evolve.

EMPOWERING SOCIAL GAMEPLAY

NURTURING COMMUNITIES & FOSTERING LONG TERM FRIENDSHIPS

Ember Sword is an MMORPG that emphasizes the importance of fostering and empowering social connections among its players. By providing an immersive and expansive virtual world, Ember Sword encourages collaboration, communication, and camaraderie between players from all walks of life.

The game offers a multitude of opportunities for meaningful interactions through shared in-game experiences, such as defeating creatures and bosses together, trading goods, and participating in community-driven events. With a strong emphasis on player-driven economies and content creation, Ember Sword enables players to form lasting friendships and forge strong alliances, all while working together towards common goals.

DYNAMIC ENDGAME CONTENT

ENDGAME THAT MATTERS AND DOESN'T GET STALE

In Ember Sword, our approach to endgame content is that it shouldn't get stale. We want the journey to be fun all the way, from start to finish, your continued growth will open up new refreshing experiences and possibilities. NPCs, mini-bosses, bosses and raid bosses will all employ a dynamic choice system, where based on various factors, your enemy will use different abilities, or behave differently. Furthermore, upon the world continuously expanding into fully fledged nations, the endgame will grow as new lands and opportunities arrive, which includes nation politics, nations trading, new unique crafting combinations and much more.

EMBER SWORD CORE GAMEPLAY

As a team of long-time veteran gamers of all types, casual, midcore and hardcore, to world champions and competitive esport gamers, our vision for Ember Sword encompasses all the iconic elements of the MMORPG genre we love and cherish. This includes immersive raids and exhilarating battlegrounds, all while incorporating roguelike elements and fostering deep social cooperation among players. We strive our utmost to create a vibrant, engaging world where camaraderie and teamwork truly make a difference.

At the heart of Ember Sword lies a fast-paced combat system designed for pure mechanical fun, reminiscent of the thrilling gameplay found in MOBAs and ARPGs. Through a unique, classless combat system players have the freedom to craft their perfect character by mixing and matching a vast array of abilities unlocked through the use of diverse weapons. With only six abilities assignable at any given time, strategic choices become a central aspect of your gaming experience.

clawbot.webp

We believe our combination of bold dynamic combat, strategic character development, and rich social interactions will create an unforgettable gaming experience for everyone.

GAME DESIGN: THRILLING ENCOUNTERS

EMBRACING THE UNEXPECTED: SKILL IN THE FACE OF UNPREDICTABILITY

We strive to create diverse and dynamic encounters that ensure a unique experience every time, even when facing the same boss. This approach keeps players on their toes, challenging them to adapt and overcome, rather than merely following predictable patterns.

By continually offering fresh and unpredictable encounters, we aim to maintain a sense of excitement and wonder throughout the game, fostering a deeply engaging and rewarding experience for our players as they progress on their adventures.

PROGRESSION

STRIKING A BALANCE: FAIR COMPETITION IN EARLY, MID, AND ENDGAME

We've carefully designed a player progression system to harmoniously balance early, mid, and endgame experiences. In the initial and intermediate stages (until max level and the attribute cap), players focus on developing their character attributes, mastering weapon and crafting skills, and enhancing their items.

By implementing caps on character attributes and flat damage upgrades, we promote a fair and balanced journey for players of all levels. As they reach the endgame, progression centers around skill leveling and item upgrades, enabling players to fine-tune their characters without causing significant power imbalances.

Our primary goal is to cultivate a competitive atmosphere where players can experience friendly rivalry early on in their adventures. Concurrently, we provide abundant opportunities for character growth and personalization, ensuring that endgame characters are powerful yet balanced, preventing extreme power discrepancies. This thoughtful approach to progression fosters an engaging and equal experience for all players, irrespective of their in-game progress.

COMBAT MECHANICS: MOBAS MEET HACK-AND-SLASH

SEAMLESS BLEND OF PVE & PVP WITH CLEAR INDICATORS AND DYNAMIC ABILITIES

Ember Sword's combat experience draws inspiration from MOBA games like DotA 2 and League of Legends, as well as hack-and-slash games such as Hades. The game's pacing is more reminiscent of DotA 2, offering an exhilarating experience that includes both PvE and PvP combat.

During both PvE and PvP encounters, players will see ground indicators signaling impending damage, providing ample time to dodge and evade harm. This feature ensures players have a clear understanding of when and where damage will occur.

As players progress and level up their professions, they'll gradually unlock new combat abilities. This design choice avoids overwhelming newcomers with too many options and provides a clear goal for players to pursue.

In PvE combat, players can face challenges solo or in a party of up to four. Certain abilities can be chained together, increasing the chances of success. For example, one player might use a Chain Hook to pull in a creature, while another player follows up with a heavy strike to stun the target.

In non-PvP areas, death penalties are minimal; players don't lose items or XP and respawn in a safe zone. The game's focus isn't on punishing players but rather acknowledging that mistakes happen.

However, dying in a PvP area results in losing some loot, although this may be adjusted for balance. Upon death, players will respawn in a safe area, ready to continue their adventures in the expansive world of Ember Sword.

EMBER SWORDS BUSTLING ECONOMY

OFF-CHAIN VS ON-CHAIN

Ember Sword is a game that is not only captivating but also revolutionary in its use of both on-chain and off-chain items which shape our no pay-to-win gameplay design philosophy and solidify our player controlled economy.

We want Ember Sword to be a social place with a bustling and ever changing world. At its core, Ember Sword offers players a chance to own unique digital items, also known as COLLECTIBLES. These Collectibles are purely cosmetic, and include weapon and character skins, emotes, and even land plots that can be owned, traded, and upgraded using $EMBER.

Character and Weapon collectible skins and emotes are a crucial aspect of a player's visual identity within the game, while LAND ownership provides opportunities for players to shape the in-game world by unlocking new gameplay features and providing user services to other players.

ONCHAIN_VS_OFFCHAIN.jpg

THE MAGIC BEHIND COSMETIC COLLECTABLES

Our on-chain collectibles are exclusive cosmetic items that add a layer of personalization to your Characters and Weapons, and allow you to express yourself with unique Emotes—all without buying power or unbalancing gameplay.

THE MAGIC BEHIND OUR COSMETIC COLLECTIBLES.jpg

  • These cosmetics aren't just unique; they're also immutable and limited in number, ensuring they remain rare and unique.
  • Whether earned through gameplay or purchased in the Premium Shop, each item is designed to showcase your style in Ember Sword’s vast multiplayer world.
  • Players have full control over their collectibles, with the option to merge for upgrades or trade/sell them externally as they see fit.

Want a new Skin for your Weapon or Character? No problem! These will drop to all players with connected wallets simply by playing the game.

Don’t want to grind to get one? We’ve got you covered. Simply access a Premium Shop at any time to get limited edition items which will only be available for a short window of time.

Don’t want your Skin anymore? Easy! You can trade it on secondary markets and get a new one at any time. Ember Sword is all about FREEDOM. You control your destiny here and the choice is yours.

COSMETIC COLLECTIBLES

There are two types of cosmetic collectibles in Ember Sword. Mergeable and Non-Mergeable.

Mergeable Collectibles

Venture into the untamed lands of Solarwood, where twisted creatures—bandits, wild boars, bears, wolves, and rogue robots—pose constant threats. Each encounter is a test of your skills and courage, urging you to stay vigilant and well-prepared.

As you triumph over these formidable foes, your bravery can be rewarded with unique Cosmetics for your weapons and character, enhancing your appearance, reflecting your achievements and status in the game.

These Mergeable Cosmetics come in four distinct rarities, each designed to celebrate your dedication and flair:

  • Common: Regular rewards for the active adventurer.
  • Uncommon: Persistence pays off, revealing finer treasures as you continue your quest.
  • Rare: These elusive items commend your dedication and are achievable for the truly committed.
  • Epic: The ultimate find, reserved for the elite. Only the most skilled and knowledgeable players who master the challenges of Solarwood can claim these prestigious cosmetics. Are you ready to be one of them?

Each of the unique Cosmetics are in limited supply and immutable. Find 4 of the same type of skins and MERGE them together to create a higher rarity skin. Once the Skins are merged together the lower tiered skins are burned forever, therefore creating an even more scarce supply of the skins.

Can’t find that last skin needed to merge? No problem! This is where we get social. Chat with other players to see who has what, visit the secondary markets or have a look through the Premium Shops to see if you can’t bag that last one.

Policy On Issuance & Release Schedule

The amount of Mergeable Collectibles distributed into the game (initially planned for a monthly cycle) depends on the active player base. This is to help combat over-saturating the supply for the items, and ensuring scarcity and rarity for those who find them.

The more active players completing PVE and PVP battles, the more Collectibles are found and into the game’s ecosystem.

Non-Mergeable Collectibles

Premium Shops are available to any player at any time. Here you will find extremely rare, limited edition Skins for your Characters, Entertaining Emotes and more. Non-mergeable Skins cannot be found in loot in the game, so to get your hands on these treasures, you are going to need to acquire some $EMBER.

The Power Of The Merge

Participate in the bustling merging economy by collecting and combining Cosmetic Collectibles to enhance their rarity and appeal. This process is accessible to all players and contributes to the uniqueness and scarcity of each item.

THE POWER OF THE MERGE.jpg

Initially we will have four different rarity types for the Collectables found in-game, **Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic. **

  • Once you have found 4 of them, you are able to merge them together with a bit of $EMBER to get a higher tier and more rare Collectable.
  • Merging Collectible items together can be done at anytime by any player
  • The 4 collectables that are merged together are burned, and the new higher tiered collectible is released - thus making each collectable even more scarce and unique in the world.
  • The price for Merging items will always be a fixed $ amount regardless of the price of $EMBER.

$EMBER DRIVING THE ON-CHAIN ECOSYSTEM

Our unique digital in-game token is known as $EMBER, and it serves as a gateway to a world of exciting land ownership, premium cosmetic features, user services and other unique collectibles. $EMBER is an in-game token which players use to buy and merge cosmetics, land and other premium features within Ember Sword.

$EMBER_Token_Launch_Image.jpg

Players can obtain $EMBER through Premium Shops, exchanges, by trading or selling cosmetics and by earning rewards on their plots of land in the game.

$EMBER_KEYFEATURES.jpg

When it comes to merging collectibles within the Ember Sword world, players can use an auction house structure, which functions similarly to any other MMORPG auction house. The auction house is an NPC placed by landowners on their plots of land, and users can search for Collectibles they desire or browse the offerings to purchase their favorite items. A minor fee is applied to each transaction, which is shared between Bright Star Studios and the landowner.

Key Features of $EMBER Token 🌟

$EMBER TOKEN SUMMARY Utility: $EMBER will serve as the primary on-chain token within Ember Sword, allowing you to purchase in-game items, merge cosmetics, and access premium features. Player Control: Ember Sword offers players control of their own in-game assets secured by blockchain technology, giving you the power to do what you want with your virtual treasures. Merging: Merge lower tier cosmetics to receive higher tiered cosmetics using $EMBER tokens fostering a vibrant in-game economy. Earning Rewards: All players can receive cosmetics collectibles drops simply by playing the game. These can then be traded amongst each other via secondary marketplaces. Additionally, land owners are able to receive rewards based on their land plot type via Premium Shop Rewards, and Player Trading Rewards. Please see full documentation on Land Owner Rewards here. Integration: $EMBER will be seamlessly integrated into the Ember Sword experience and interface, making transactions seamless, swift and secure.

$EMBER ALLOCATION AND DISTRIBUTION

Our tokenomics exist in a symbiotic ecosystem with the game economy. With 2.5B in total supply, 48.2% of the tokens will only be released through actual game mechanics. The remaining % are allocated as follows:

$EMBER ALLOCATION & DISTRIBUTION.jpg

All these allocations, except for the public token sale and reserves, are subject to up to TGE+1/3 and up to 22/24 months vesting period. We maintain control over the team allocations and have strict policies in place to prevent independent token sales by our employees.

Game Rewards / Emissions

48.2% of all $EMBER is reserved for the player economy and strategic partners for Ember Sword, including but not limited to artists, influencers, partnerships and community members who will be rewarded Tokens to support building community projects.

Our current release model connects the release of game rewards related tokens to the DAU/MAU activities, player progression within the game, and game-related initiatives. This ensures that tokens are released as the game grows, further stabilizing the overall economy based on actual demand. We also have a grant system initiative we will introduce which supports content creation, and a loyalty/retention program, where token holders and/or players can lock up their tokens to earn rewards tied to the success of the game.

In addition to regular cosmetic drops, $EMBER will also be given to players for events and competitions via leaderboards. For example to the first teams completing new dungeons, high ranking players in arenas and tournaments, and for completing achievements, and other high stakes objectives in the game.

Early Token Sales

10% of all $EMBER will be reserved for pre-sale purchasers, and subject to lockup of up to TGE+1/3 and up to 22/24 months vesting period.

Public Token Sales / Liquidity Pools

9% of all $EMBER will be available during the token crowdsale and networks for facilitating decentralized trading. This is including but not limited to IEO and subsequently listing on multiple exchanges for enhancing liquidity (launchpools/liquidity pools)

Reserves / Treasury

5% of all $EMBER will be retained and work as company reserves to support and stabilize the $EMBER Token ecosystem.

Advisors / Early Supporters

8% of all $EMBER will be retained and reserved for the early supporters/partnership that help lift the potential of $EMBER tokens as well as the Advisors.

Team

17.3% of all $EMBER will be retained and reserved for Founders, Team Members, Contractors etc

Unsold Tokens & Vesting

  • Unsold $EMBER Tokens from the pre-sales will be made available during the Public Token Sale.
  • Tokens distributed to founders and the team are subject to a lockup period, with TGE+1 and 48 months linear vesting where advisor/seed have a 36 month linear vesting.
  • Should we choose not to utilize/sell all the reserved tokens for private/community they would be distributed into the reserves.

Securing the Proceeds From The Public Token Sale (TGE)

Proceeds collected through the Public Sale (TGE) will initially be stored in a multi-sig secure wallet. This means that all outgoing transactions will have to be verified by multiple executives based in different locations within the organization.

Finally the proceeds will be spread out as highly stable and recognised currencies, but also within different institutional partners including SIFI approved banks and government secured institutions.

ECONOMIC POLICY

Dynamic Token Release Model

We have designed a dynamic token release model that is closely tied to the game's growth and player activities. This model ensures that tokens are released as the game grows, further stabilizing the overall economy based on actual demand.

Our release model is directly connected to Daily Active Users/Monthly Active Users (DAU/MAU) activities, player progression within the game, and game-related initiatives such as influencer partnerships. In simpler terms, if the DAU/MAU is lower on a given month, the circulation of the $EMBER token is lower - and visa versa.

LAND IN EMBER SWORD

Building a World for the Community

Thanabus is a place where the players come together to create a world that they can truly call their own. To make this vision a reality, we have allocated a total of 150,000 plots of player-owned LAND across all nations, beginning with Solarwood with 40,000 plots available.

These plots of land provide more than just a piece of virtual real estate, they also hold the potential for greater community and collaboration among community members.

Maximum Plots - Solarwood

Issuance amounts in the table below are immutable and will never change.

LAND PLOTS MAXIMUM SUPPLY.jpg

As a landowner in Ember Sword, you have the opportunity to not only build and shape your unique corner of the world but also to potentially earn rewards for your creativity and effort. One of the ways we aim to support this is by offering multiple rewards options for your land.

For all landowners, the more players that are active, the more rewards you can receive.

What LAND Is Used For

  • Evolving the Ember Sword Landscape
  • Placing Vendors & Premium Shops
  • Earning $EMBER Rewards

Player Trading Rewards

PLEASE NOTE: Land Owners must have a connected wallet to the game in order to receive their rewards

All Land owners, depending on the type of land they own, will receive Player Trading rewards based on their multipliers. This will be pulled from all secondary market trading. The table below shows what multipliers will be attributed to each type of Land Plot.

*Not all features for LAND will be available at Early Access. Please see early access documentation for more details. *

Tokenomics Conclusion

We intend on continuing to build out the economic system of the game, meaning that we will continue to reiterate and make sure all our tokenomics and economy designs are working as intended, as we similar are looking to expand onto it. There are many features we will be adding post the initial launch as the game grows together with its player base.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Our Proprietary Engine Looking To Level The Playing Field For All Gamers

When we first set out to create Ember Sword, we envisioned a game where there were no borders to entry, no limits, no buy-in.

Our proprietary engine does not utilize any form of video streaming to deliver gameplay to your platform of choice, instead we stream game data directly to your machine. Using our unique data-delivery methods, plus utilizing compression algorithms, we can deliver a smooth game experience on any device, any service, across the globe, down to a 3G+ connection. This is a true game changer. It enables Ember Sword to reach markets across the world, which previously have been neglected due to a lack of technology and bandwidth, two areas which our engine aims to alleviate.

This means you can play Ember Sword no matter where you are, as long as you have a device that has at least 3G+ Internet access, and/or a browser, you can boot up Ember Sword and enjoy a zero-friction experience, effectively leveling the playing field for gamers across the globe.

Outperforming Legacy Technology By Design

In the early 2000s both CPUs and Memory were slow. Over the next 20 years, CPUs got so much faster (100x+), however, Memory still remained slow (~3x of what it was in the early 2000s). Instead of optimizing software for memory, we optimize for the CPU. This requires a significantly different way of programming. All popular engines today are built in the ‘legacy way’ (Object-Oriented Programming which utilizes memory over CPU) which heavily limits performance gains. A data-driven design is better than object-oriented design for game development because it allows for efficient processing of large amounts of data, leading to better performance on CPUs and greater flexibility.

HIGHLY ACCESSIBLE TECH.jpg

We believe this is the way of the future, and how games are meant to be played. Having a modern tech stack allows us to do cool things like:

  • No Launcher
  • No Plugins
  • No Extensions
  • Universal Access
  • Minimal Downtime
  • No Waiting
  • Infinite Worlds
  • Low Disk Space Requirements
  • Dev: Live Patching
  • Dev: Hot Reloading
  • Dev: Instant Builds
  • Dev: 1 Build - All Platforms
