Today, we have two amazing updates at once! (drum roll, please…)
First up, we’re happy to reveal the new main playable male character in Ember Sword (check out the teaser below).
And secondly, we’re glad to report that Esports veteran Jens Hilgers, the Founding CEO of the world’s largest Esports company “ESL”, has joined Bright Star Studios as a strategic advisor to fuel our vision for a competitive MMORPG experience and Ember Sword Esports scene.
Check out the character reveal teaser at the end of the post
We’re very proud of what the team has been able to put together, and we’re excited to share more images and GIFs of the character over the following weeks across Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Discord.
Jens Hilgers Joined the Party!
“We’re thrilled to have Jens Hilgers embark on our journey of pioneering a new type of competitive MMORPG experience for the next generation of players. Jens is an Esports godfather and a gaming pioneer with paramount insight into the competitive nature of games and gamers.
As a strategic advisor with decades of experience in the Esports scene, he will help shape the upcoming competitive scene around Ember Sword, to the benefit of all players around the world.” — Mark Laursen, CEO.
“Ember Sword captures that magic blend of PvP-focussed RPG combat and a true persistent open world served in a format that is easily accessible across multiple platforms. A hard design and technology-challenge that I firmly believe the team is able to deliver on. Excited to contribute my esports experience!” — Jens Hilgers.
Starting in the late 1990s, Jens has seen and experienced first-hand the rapid growth of the Esports industry, and we’re looking forward to working closely with him over the next many years.
A New Path for Esports and MMORPGs?
We’ll do a full article about our vision for the future of MMORPG Esports in the coming months, so stay tuned.
Through on-going PvP and PvE events built directly into the game’s core, any fearless Ember Sword player will be able to compete to acquire new limited-supply collectible cosmetic items every month. The cosmetics you win through these events can be worn in-game or sold to other players for the Ember Sword’s premium currency, which can also either be used or sold.
Combined with skill-based gameplay without predatory Pay-to-Win systems and “surprise mechanics”, this will foster a new genre of small-scale Esports that is accessible for everyone, and we’re excited to have this at the core of Ember Sword.
