The community land sale of Ember Sword takes place in Solarwood - one of the four nations of Thanabus. The sale features four types of land: Plots, Settlements, Towns, and Cities. Details about the sale can be found below.

As a land owner, you'll receive a small percentage of the real-life revenue that is produced by the estate your plot belongs to. The revenue is NOT in-game currency.

Total land supply of Thanabus is 160,000 plots. Solarwood consists of 40,000 plots.

A piece of Thanabus

Regular plot

The foundation of land in Ember Sword revolves around square 1x1 plots that are, roughly, the size of one screen. Regular plots are the base form of land in the game, your chance to own a piece of Thanabus. Regular plots come with the Sir/Lady title and have traits that are unveiled as the game world unfolds, which can include campsites, NPC houses, resource deposits, monster spawns and more!

Building Regular plot

Settlements are 1x1 sized pieces of land on which you can place small-sized buildings. They can be great resupply stations, forward guild outposts and more. Settlements come with the Baron/Baroness title and examples of what you can build include small player housing, small guild houses and small player stores.

Building Settlement

Towns are larger than settlements and offer more to the wayward adventurer. They are the home to buildings aimed towards more specific tasks, such as crafting, specific gear acquisition and resource refinement. A town nets you the title of Earl/Countess and, alongside all the settlement buildings, you can construct refinement stations, crafting buildings, medium guild houses, and an exchange, a structure which gives you access to the global item trading network.

Building Town

Cities are bustling centers of commercial activity and are brimming with riches for those willing to put in the work. The largest structures and guilds are found in these urban locations, bringing along boundless opportunities. City owners are granted the title of Duke or Duchess and alongside all buildings from settlements and towns, cities allow you to construct large guild houses, portals, caravan trading posts, and more!

Ember Sword is a Free-to-Play Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game (MMORPG) taking place in a player-driven dystopian fantasy universe with a classless and fast-paced combat system.

You will be able to create a character, pick a home nation, and venture into the mysterious world with your weapon of choice to prove your worth in the action-packed classless combat system by defeating monsters, bosses, and other players, or explore the world as a peaceful forager of goods and rares, making a name for yourself as a talented refiner and craftsman.

Ember Sword is currently in pre-alpha. We are internally testing the capabilities of our proprietary game engine, as well as various networking features. We are planning on opening up pre-alpha testing of our engine tech to the community in 2022, with more gameplay focused testing coming throughout the year.

Later in 2022 we will open up the capital of Solarwood, the first nation we are planning on releasing, for pre-alpha testing. Throughout the remainder of 2022, we are going to be adding the remainder of Solarwood. The other nations will follow the same process, with their releases currently planned for 2023 and beyond.

A technical test is a limited play area, which will be constrained to a limited set of gameplay loops to test the capability of our engine. The purpose of these tests is to optimize connectivity, the gameplay loops, and general player experience, as members can tinker around and explore parts of the game as a true Thanabus citizen.

In 2022, we will be opening up engine and technical testing to the community, with land plot and badge owners having guaranteed access to these trials.

Ember Sword will release on PC first, accessible from both Mac and Windows directly in your browser, or as a stand-alone client.

After launch, we have plans to start working on mobile cross-play (yes, the exact same game and same accounts, just playable on mobile).

Our vision is to support as many platforms as possible over time.

Ember Sword will be rich in both PvP and PvE experiences, listed below.

Outlaw zones are planned as free-for-all PvP & PvE areas, where you travel to collect the rarest resources, slay high level monsters, or fight other players. Point-of-Interest PvP to conquer and protect camps in these Outlaw zones will see you teaming up with your guild / group of friends in fierce fights against other players. But be careful - dying in an Outlaw zone means losing most of your gear, much to the joy of your opponent.

In Wilderness and Kingship zones, you will gear-up to help your friends defeat mighty open world PvE bosses, or venture into the dangerous world as a lone wolf to defeat thousands of monsters and beasts with your trusted weapons and abilities. Encountering players from other nations in these territories is possible and gives you the chance to engage in combat with them.

If you prefer PvE, you will be able to acquire even the best items through resource collecting, dungeons, and crafting, but for those daring to engage in PvP, the rewards are plentiful, making the risk worth it.

End-game content in Ember Sword has to be meaningful and exciting for both PvP and PvE players. End-game PvP and PvE is something we are devoting a lot of time to, and something we'll continue tweaking even post-launch based on community feedback.

For PvP players, Ember Sword's end-game content will be competitive (no pay-to-win), skill-based (being "good" beats having great gear), and, for those that desire it, high-stakes (if you die in Outlaw zones, you lose most of your gear). If you're good at PvP and win the end-game fights over Outlaw territory camps, you may be rewarded with scarce limited-edition cards that have a unique history detailing the epic feat that lead you to acquire that card. Once you've acquired all cards in a collection, you can unlock its collectible. These collectibles you can show-off, or even sell to other players for Ember, our upcoming ERC-20 token. We're not holding you back!

For pve players, the world of Ember Sword will be filled with unique monsters and fearless beasts. However, if you're among the PvE elite, you'll be fighting every day to become the first to kill the open-world bosses that spawn at random locations throughout the world. Kill the boss, and it might reward you with a limited-edition card that immortalizes your legendary battle against the boss. Acquiring all cards in a collection allows you to unlock the collectible associated with them, which you're free to do with as you wish - keep it, trade it, etc

No. We hate Pay to Win, and we'll keep Ember Sword skill-based and competitive by not implementing any Pay to Win mechanics.

We are planning on monetizing Ember Sword through an optional subscription, which unlocks non-pay-to-win convenience features (extra bank slots, exclusive titles, collectibles etc.). Additionally, we are going to earn a small fee on Ember token transactions of land plots and collectibles on the Ember Sword Marketplace.

All loot dropped in Ember Sword will have some sort of utility in the game, there's no filler items just for the sake of giving the player more loot.

Loot will drop to the ground, which then can be picked up by players. When playing alone, you will have a period of time to pick up the loot before anyone else can. If you're playing in a party, the party settings will dictate who gets the loot.

Caravan Trading is going to be for all of our merchants out there. We hear you, and we're designing a system that will allow you to live as a merchant inside Ember Sword. You'll be risking your life, but the rewards will be worth it, and your fellow players will thank you for your duty!

The process is planned to work as follows - acquire the valuable resources unique to your home nation and launch a caravan trade from the nearest city, across the dangerous Outlaw Territories into foreign nations to sell your resources to other players at a profit. Naturally, this is a gameplay mechanic that will only be available once multiple nations are live.

Without a central worldwide marketplace for in-game resources, players from foreign nations will be eager to buy them from travelling merchants, and with limited inventory space, a caravan trade is going to be your most efficient way to move large quantities of goods and turn a profit as a merchant. But the slow caravans will make you an easy target for thieves hiding in the Outlaw Territories, so teaming up with your friends and allies to protect you on your journey is highly advisable.
